The Journal of Work-Applied Management (JWAM) is different, a scholarly and refereed journal that provides an authoritative, yet accessible, source of management information for scholars, practitioners, academics and professionals covering all levels of management right up to CEO.

JWAM publishes academic articles that emphasize how theories are applied in practical business management situations, and/or use data from those situations to build theory, alongside case studies of real life practice and innovation, opinion pieces, editorials and commentaries. It covers most areas of business and management but is especially interested in innovation in practice where emergent theory is created and new ideas are developed and applied. Work-based and work-applied learning are interrogated and promoted within this journal as are theories of change management, action research and action learning.

Aims

  • To publish material of practical and theoretical benefit for managers in private, public and community organizations and academics seeking to improve and understand experiential learning, the application of theory to practice and the emergence of new theories through practice.

  • To provide a forum for debate and discussion of new developments in the use of action research, case research and reflective practice in the context of work applied learning in business and management.

Scope

The journal publishes double blind and refereed articles dealing with issues in business and management using action research and action learning, reflective practice and case research issues related to the work-applied learning field, and provide an opportunity for the sharing of common developments, issues and ideas to the work-applied learning community and to working practitioners. The contents may span all industrial sectors and academic subject disciplines.

JWAM operates a double blind peer review model. All articles undergo an initial assessment by the journal Editor. If they are considered suitable for peer review, articles will then be a reviewed by a minimum of two external reviewers to assess its suitability for publication. Final responsibility for editorial decisions rest with the journal Editor.

JWAM will publish 2 issues per annum from 2017 onwards.
