Encouraging excellence in management research in Central and Eastern Europe

Emerald and CEEMAN are delighted to announce the winner of the Emerald/CEEMAN Doctoral Research Prize for Central and Eastern Europe. The winning entry, one of many from across the whole of Europe, most successfully met the criteria of the award: “addressing an issue of relevance to accelerating and improving management development in Central and Eastern Europe”. The prize was open to those who completed and satisfied examination requirements for a doctoral award between 1 June 2004 and 1 June 2006, and were from a CEEMAN member institution.

Anete Pajuste

"Corporate governance and controlling shareholders"

Anete is Assistant Professor of Finance at the Riga Business School. She is also a research associate at the Stockholm Institute of Transition Economies. Her primary research focus is on the issues of investor protection and corporate governance. Her articles have appeared in several journals including the Journal of Banking and Finance, and the Oxford Review of Economic Policy. Anete received her PhD in finance from the Stockholm School of Economics in 2004. During her doctoral studies, she spent a year as a visiting research fellow at the Harvard University and a semester at the European Central Bank. Before beginning her doctoral studies, she was the head of research at the asset management division of Rietumu Banka (Latvia). Anete serves as a consultant to small and medium-size companies in Latvia advising on financial planning, investment management, and firm valuation issues.
